Five wind instruments\u2014flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon\u2014come together to create a rich blend of colors, contrasts, and nuances, where each instrument retains its individual voice while contributing to the overall balance of the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><p class=\"p1\" style=\"white-space: normal;\">The lecture-concert will explore the origins and development of the wind quintet: from Haydn\u2019s divertimenti, which anticipate the idea of a five-wind ensemble with flexible instrumentation, to the classical formation established in the early 19th century by composers such as Paul Taffanel, who defined clear roles and a stable harmonic balance.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Musical Program<\/strong>me<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The musical programme of the lecture-concert is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list disc\">\n<li><div class=\"red\"><strong>Franz Joseph Haydn<\/strong><\/div> Divertimento in B-flat major &#8211; Hob.II:46<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><div class=\"red\"><strong>Paul Taffanel<\/strong><\/div><em>Wind Quintet in G minor<\/em> &#8211; Op. 3 (I movimento)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is a lecture-concert<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture-concert format of Officina Filarmonica is <strong>an immersive experience<\/strong> lasting about 60 minutes, combining live music with an explanation of its fundamental elements. It is not just about attending a performance, but about being guided through a journey that <strong>helps the audience better understand what they are hearing<\/strong>, interacting directly with the musicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a clear and accessible introduction to the selected pieces, their historical context, and the most significant musical elements, the works are performed in full. This allows the audience to experience the concert more deeply and engagingly, transforming listening into <strong>a richer and more meaningful experience<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Venue and access<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"red\"><strong>\u201cThe Wind Quintet\u201d \u2013 Lecture-concert<\/strong><\/span><br><em>Sunday, May 10 &#8211; 5:00 <\/em>pm (entry from 4:45 PM)<br><strong>Cloister of Santa Maria in Via<\/strong>, Via del Mortaro 24 (behind Largo Chigi).
