Rocco Sbardella – Conductor
Graduated in clarinet in 1997 at the Conservatory “Licino Refice” in Frosinone under the guidance of M° Umberto Scipione, he later perfected with M° Calogero Palermo and in bass clarinet with M° Dario Goracci.
He immediately started an intense activity collaborating over the years, both as a clarinet and bass clarinet player, with the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the ORT – Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, the Symphony Orchestra of Cyprus and the Tiroler-festspiele Erl Orchestra in Austria.
Since 2011 he has been a music teacher at the Marymount International School of Rome where since 2015 he has also held the role of Head of the Performing Arts.
His passion for conducting starts with his work experience at school, initially conducting, along with the school ensembles, musical theater titles such as West Side Story, Cinderella, Hairspray and The Wiz.
From 2016 to 2020 he studied orchestral conducting at the International Academy of Imola under the guidance of M° Marco Boni, also conducting the Youth Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. He has also conducted chamber and symphonic ensembles such as the Orchestra of the Petite Société of Milan, the Kammerphilarmonie Graz and the Enarmonia Ensemble of Rome.
Since 2021 he has collaborated as wind tutor and as a conductor with the Saint Paul’s Youth Orchestra which debuted in March 2022 and which saw him again on the podium for the 2023 season with a concert dedicated to Schubert and Grieg.
