Re-discovering America

Following the success of the June concert, by popular demand, on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 6:30 PM, the musicians of Officina Filarmonica will return to perform in the wonderful setting of the Basilica of Saints Bonifacio and Alessio – at Piazza Sant’Alessio 23, in the Aventine District of Rome – with the concert titled “Discovering America”.

The concert is a journey through America, inspired by the music of George Gershwin. Gershwin’s compositions are deeply connected to the society and urban context in which they were created, blending different genres such as jazz and blues, forming a universal language that can evoke emotions and be understood by everyone. Nevertheless, from a technical and orchestral perspective, Gershwin’s music is complex and intricate, now appreciated and recognized within the realm of classical music and performed worldwide.

The concert will be conducted by Maestro Rocco Sbardella, with the following program, adapted for orchestral ensemble:

  • George Gershwin, Three Preludes
  • George Gershwin, An American in Paris

Free entry, and no reservation is required. Don’t miss it!
