Officina Filarmonica: a new Chance for Classical Music
When a new musical project is coming to life, people who love music and have been playing it since childhood are filled with joy: it’s a mix of the wonder and emotion of a child, the enthusiasm and recklessness of a teen, the ambition and resolution of an adult.
With this spirit, Officina Filarmonica was born, a new musical “factory”, a workshop for lovers of classical music.
On November 2016, in an interview, the renowned Maestro Riccardo Muti said that «making music together is fundamental for society, […] it is a way to get used to listening».
In the city of Rome, and more extensively in Italy, the spaces dedicated to music are very few. Without considering large theaters and auditoriums, halls equipped to host acoustic music are non-existent. It is difficult just to find a place to rehearse any musical group with more than 10 elements.
Despite a very long and prestigious musical tradition, our country is forgetting the value of music, as a tool for understanding social complexity and as a universal medium for communication and cultural growth.
In its small way, Officina Filarmonica begins its journey by setting up a Symphony Amateur Orchestra, made up of musicians who share the passion, talent and desire to contribute to the diffusion of a new musical culture, widespread in the country and open to the outside.
The establishment of a new orchestra is a difficult operation, hindered by the absence of public and private funding, by the lack of space and opportunities. And this makes the Officina Filarmonica project particularly ambitious and in need of the contribution of all those who believe in the energy of music and its power to make people and society better.
Thanks to all the musicians who will choose to join us and to people who wish to help make it happen.
